What Egimisis is about

Egimisis, the pursuit of the dream as a healing method, has been the basic method of the Asclepian Medical art, the core of the ancient Sacred Medical art.

For Ancient Greeks, the sense of the word iasis had a much wider meaning than the meaning of the word therapy or healing as we use it today. It stems from a different viewpoint on the world, according to which each person consciously felt that he was part of a cosmic order that encloses everything.

Iasis means inner fulfillment, an esoteric state of being that demands the remediation of the balance between the body and the soul, and their modulation with the universal law and order.

This means the remediation of a human being's relation with nature, society and the Divine, the finding of a goal and purpose in life, and the modulation of his being with its inner divine qualities. In this way, a person is connected with the higher psychic and mental part of his being.

Following the path of a physical and mental catharsis, Egimisis becomes the sharp peak, when the supplicant-patient falls asleep in a sacred place, asking for a revealing therapeutic dream; A meeting with the Divine inside a dream that signifies Iasis, the complete healing of the Self.
